2020/2021 Covid 19 Guidelines
Due to Covid-19, Valley Academy for the Arts will be implementing specific changes and guidelines for the 2020/2021 academic year. All of this is to provide the safest environment possible for our students and staff while continuing to provide quality dance instruction.

Inside the Building:
- Class enrollment for most classes will be limited to 5 students each.
- Students kindergarten age and older and all adults will be required to wear a face mask. Masks will be worn during class, as well as moving about the building.
- We will not be able to provide inside seating for parents or other family members except for parents of students 3 and 4 years of age. Parents of 3 and 4-year-olds will be asked to stay in their child’s classroom for the duration of their class.
- 4We are asking that instead of bringing your child into the building, you bring them to the door (or drop them off at the door depending on their age), and a staff member or volunteer parent will help them find their class. Parents may pick their child up at the front door after the end of class. Again, we will provide a staff member or volunteer parent to make sure your child is delivered to the proper adult.
- Please have your child bring their own filled water bottle with their name on it. We will not be providing bottled water or disposable cups inside the building to prevent the spread of germs.
- Proper cleaning guidelines will be followed as directed by the Wisconsin Department of Health for ballet studios and similar venues.
Studio and Online Classes:
- In anticipation of a possible shutdown in late fall/early winter, we are prepared to move in-studio classes to an online format. If we need to move online, there will be a significant tuition reduction during the months we are online.
- Two ZOOM classes will be available immediately for ages 3-8 who might be doing homeschooling this coming fall.
Performances:
- There will be NO winter recital this year.
- We are tentatively planning on a spring recital, depending on future guidance about public performances.
- We will likely NOT be participating in Nutcracker in the Castle this winter, again, depending on what the Paine decides and how families feel about performing.
Uniforms:
- We will not require the VAA monogrammed uniform this year.
- Apparel for dance classes will be as follows:
- Open Division Students for Ballet/Tap:
- Girls: pink leotard and tights, ballet slippers, and black tap shoes.
- Boys: white short sleeve t-shirt, black pants, black ballet slippers, and tap shoes.
- Jazz and Lyrical: Solid colored t-shirt, black jazz pants, appropriate shoes.
- Academy/Conservatory Students:
- Leotard the color of your class level and pink tights. (See website for colors)
